Today we are continuing our series about 'The Programmer's dictionary.' We'll be talking about terms that will help in learning, and that will be needed to communicate with like-minded people.

A Gigabyte is a unit of measurement, used to measure amounts of information. It's equal to 1024 megabytes or 1,073,741,824 (230) standard (8-bit) bytes. Relative to each other, these quantities are roughly equivalent to a ton, a kilogram and a gram. As an example: smartphones have from 32 GB to 512 GB of RAM.

Gamedev is the development or creation of a computer program to make a game. This will include the development of the gameplay design, the script and storyline, the game engine programming, the development of the visual concept and its components, the creation of various graphics and modeling of the main characters of the game, the animation of the characters, and also the creation of musical and sound accompaniment (soundtrack), as well as supporting interaction between players via network access.

Geek - a person who is well-versed in a certain field, and a real fan of something. Nowadays, however, the word 'geek' is very often applied to programmers.

A hyperlink is a link between a file and a web page. You can go from a web page, via a hyperlink, to a specific file, picture, text, email address or directory. Typically, a hyperlink is shown with coloured or underlined text.

A GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) is a raster of graphic images. A GIF is capable of storing compressed data, without loss of quality, in a format of no more than 256 colors. For a long time, GIF was one of the most common formats on the internet. You can also create your own GIFs.

Graphical user interface (GUI) is one type of user interface, in which every element is in a graphic image format. So, all the main objects present in this interface - icons, function buttons, menu objects, etc. - are images.

A hot reboot (also known as 'three-key combination') involves restarting the computer by pressing the Ctrl-Alt-Delete keys at the same time. A hot reboot can be used when a computer is frozen.
