Indonesia had first programming lessons in BeginIT project

The BeginIT project has begun its work in Indonesia. 28 children from Al-Mustafawiyah school from the city of Medan joined the project, new participants are eager to learn programming and are interested in the Information Technology.

For several lessons, the participants went through the first 18 levels of “Introduction to Computer Science” and got acquainted with a new method of independent learning for them. Some of them study computer science for the first time, since they do not study this subject at school.

First Programming Lesson at Al-Mustafawiyah 

During the learning, children will learn the basics of HTML and CSS, learn how to create web pages and games, and even share them with their friends. There are also two programming languages ​​to choose from: JavaScript and Python.

Additionally, as part of the project, Virtual Citizenship and Digital Literacy classes will be held for children, they will learn what they need to do to be safe on the Internet.

The BeginIT project involves orphanages, boarding schools and rural schools from 10 countries around the world. Education is for children from 12 to 16 years old, one of the main criteria for participation in the project is the interest of children in the Information Technology and the desire to develop in this area.

After completing the course, each student will master the skills of programming, web and game development. Participation in the project can serve as an impulse that will lead them into the world of intellectual professions, will change their life for the better.

In order to participate in the project you need:

  • a group of 6-10 children 12-16 years old interested in IT technologies;
  • computers or laptops with Internet access;
  • interested curator or computer science teacher who will oversee the courses. (If there is no teacher, we will provide him.)
  • the opportunity to put classes (2 lessons per week) in the educational curriculum.

Courses last 32 weeks, after the end of the course, participants receive certificates of completion.
